the most interesting phone call I've gotten in a long time

Caller: "Is this Barbara Rice?"

Me:(suspiciously, because I'm sure this is a sales call) "Yeessss....."

Caller: "This is Barbara Gordon calling from Williamsburg, Virginia."

(Pause)

Me: (somewhat more cheerfully, since this doesn't seem to be a sales call) "Yes?"

Caller: "I'm calling to find out if you're the Barbara Rice who owns a sculpture in the Colonial Williamsburg Museum. Is that you?"

Me: (dumbfounded)"No, that would be lovely if I was, but no, it's not me."

Caller: "Oh, sorry for the call, thank you."

I hope this gal isn't calling every single Barbara Rice in the US. I know of several right here within 20 miles or so. But it was interesting.

Why is the former Batgirl calling you to find this out?

She should be able to find that information much more indirectly.

Beats the hell out of me. You'd think they'd have a record of it.

You'd think she'd notice the area code being, y'know, not Virginia...

You could have said "Well, I USED to own a sculpture in the museum there, but I was told it was lost during their last spring cleaning."

I wouldn't want her phone bill if she does intend to call you all. :)

I would have thought she could get more info by speaking to the museum direct to have any success in tracking down the correct Barbara.

You would think so, wouldn't you? Unless, of course, she WORKS for the museum and they can't find the records....

Oh, that is just too funny. I'm sure later you did think of several things you could have said if you weren't taken by surprise.

Do you want to call Barbara Gordon Back about it?

Barbara Gordon
515 HUNTERS BRIDGE DR
CHESAPEAKE, VA 23320
(757) 277-9097

Now wouldn't SHE be the one that is surprised if that is the same one? ;-)
