There used to be a sports writer at the local newspaper, Dave Haerle, who had a little something to offend everyone. He was, I think you'd say, difficult. You might even say he was offensive. But maybe you wouldn't. Depends on your perspective, I guess. Kelly Brewer, the former editor of the paper - who either was fired or jumped ship just before its recent rapid decline - has her own blog, Pink Hollyhock. She wrote about an issue at the local humane society, and suddenly there appeared a rather nasty tirade from this former reporter, whom apparently she had fired, or who quit while she was editor. (As I recall when he left he sent an email around the office to freshly offend everyone again, and I believe his last column was a bit of a rant too.) You may read it here. It won't be difficult to locate. He also left a similar message on Doni Greenburg's blog, Food for Thought, which has since been deleted. He seems to blame them directly for his woes. Not his fault, nosirreebob. Sigh. EDIT: I'll be screening comments... the comment from Mrs. Dave has been frozen.

Change sides, and pay the price. You know what I'm talking about? It's been rough...hopefully, I'll pull through it without too much damage. Not looking for pity, though. Just like-minded individuals. |

That's the only way I could rationalize the behavior I witnessed when we worked together at the R-S. He absolutely repulsed me and I always wondered how he managed to keep a wife. I could only imagine how poorly he treated you after seeing how nasty he was to everyone else in his path. Good luck to you!! Your kids deserve so much better! *Michelle* |

In the poor man's defense, he did grow up under the tutelage of an over-bearing, hard-ass of a man, who although professionally is a genius, personally is something of a brute. That's no excuse, though, for not being accountable for ones own actions. His comments to Ms. Brewer were inexcusable in my book...I don't care what she may have done to him in the past. I'm no saint, by the way. I've just realized that I must be responsible for my own happiness and not let others determine it for me. It's not an easy task, correcting mistakes and stepping up, unfortunately. It's too bad Dave can't see it also. What a waste of a life. Maybe one day, he'll get it. |
