I dunno..
The second guy looks like he might be a banker in some glorious island locale. I'd go for that. Of course the first guy has a whole hipster-geek thing going. (I hope that was his plan) The third guy just needs to find the rest of his pants.
Honestly, I don't know about the whole shorts thing. Then again, I DO NOT WEAR SHORTS. EVER. If you're a woman past puberty, you probably shouldn't be wearing shorts in public either. They aren't flattering to most women's bodies. I don't understand the need to wear shorts in public. Maybe on the beach or boardwalk, it makes sense, but not 'in town'. Are you really that hot? And do shorts make you that much cooler? I find a long skirt in some light-weight material keeps the sun off my legs and lets air swirl around plenty. I might deign to wear capri pants that hit my calf, but I'm not interested in shorts.
I hope if men take this up, the trend self-limits to men who are reasonably sized for shorts and sophisticated enough not to wear black socks. There's so much potential for disaster with this. Like..hairy legs. I'm a big fan of men shaving their bodies before exposing them! (Unlike my neighbor who resembles a pale yeti-like creature) Seriously. Maybe dress-pant shorts are best left to little school boys.
