Hi there! My name is Deeana and I've been a S&tC fan forever.  Only joined this community recently though. I love all the ladies to a ridiculous amount but consider myself a mix of all the ladies (especially Carrie and Samantha).

I have a quick question to put to you ladies.  In episode 81 "The Post-It Always Sticks Twice" from season six, Miranda is able to finally fit into her skinny jeans when they go to Club Bed.  Now, based on what you see when viewing your dvd's or tv, are Miranda's No Excuses jeans a dark blue wash or black?  This is to settle a debate between a friend and myself.  She's convinced of one thing and I'm positive it's the other.  I know if I show her the clip she'll try to argue her way, so this is for further proof in addition to my peace of mind haha.  In the long run it won't really matter but we are both stubborn and competitive so bragging rights are always a plus xD

Thanks in advance!

Tonight on Deadliest Catch

Mom: You've had crabs before?
40-something son: Yeah...but it wasn't from having sex with a dirty whore. It was from sleeping on a dirty bed.

ridiclous profile of the day
Now this profile has both weird New Agey bullshit breathing exercises and completely insane demands regarding body type and sexuality. Sign me up.
Hey there...Im a pretty fun guy that likes to live in the moment. Im not one of the flakey,
unresponsible losers that you normally get, but I like just being with someone. Try it.
Just you and that someone. Or just yourself. Just breath, and actually feel the air in your
lungs feeding your body...

Pretty intense, eh? Thats what I like to do with a guy...actually FEEL them...be with
them. Its a pretty kewl thing if you've ever tried it. =)

And please don't be skinny/overweight or femme if you message me. Be around my
age, and a DUDE. After all, I am GAY. If I wanted a fem, I'd just go date girls.

This is pretty cool.
I was looking up ideas to find things to put in my husband's stocking this year and came upon this website.

I think i'm going to try to write letters of the alphabet one.

What are some things you fill your stockings with?

Substitution for Cream of Tartar Experiences
I'd like to make some snickerdoodle cookies this weekend.  I have all of the ingredients except for the 2 teaspoons of cream of tartar.  I really don't want to go out to pick some up just for this event.  I did some light google and found that white vinegar and lemon juice can be used instead but I don't have either of those either (I have rice vineger but I don't think that's quite the same).

I read that you can use baking powder instead as baking powder is just a combination of baking soda and cream of tartar (among other things) at 1/4 baking soda & 5/8 cream of tartar.  I was wondering if you guys had any experiences with substituting something else, particularly baking powder, for cream of tartar in cookies (like snickerdoodles).  I'll be using this recipe:  http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Mrs-Siggs-Snickerdoodles/Detail.aspx

Thanks!

Marion Alabama
I recently visited Marion Alabama, and saw two cemeteries there. This one was taken at Marion Cemetery. The rest were taken at St. Wilfred Episcopal Cemetery. Marion Cemetery has a sign saying the earliert known grave is dated 1821.

The Billingsley family had quite a bit of money. They couple had two very tall monuments. The grave seen here was for their two-year-old child.

Baby Food
How many of you have made baby food?

My daughter hates the jarred baby food and wants what we eat. Only she has no teeth. So, I got a food processor...well that and I got tired of not having a food processor.

What are some things that I can make as a double duty meal that won't upset her stomach? She's 7 months old. Then again she has a thing for pickles. She can't eat them, but she loves to suck on them.

I've found some sites for baby food, but they're all just baby food. I want a meal that my boyfriend and son will eat as well.

Velvety Rich Vegetarian Butternut Dal
This dal, which consists of roasted butternut squash and red lentils pureed together, seasoned with caramelized onions, garlic, ginger and Indian spices and topped with caramelized onions, cranberries and almonds is the owner of my restaurant's favorite. I invented it a couple of weeks ago and we have had it once a week as a dinner special since then and she just adores it and says she'd keep me as a chef for that dish alone--and she isn't a vegetarian.

But she is right--it is really, really good. And it is so autumnal--and I think that it is a perfect blend of native American fruits, Indian lentils and Indian cooking technique. It is the kind of fusion dish that is full of heart and soul, because it was created with utter respect for the ingredients and the traditions that are being blended together.

Anyway, here is the recipe, with pictures and the story of its creation.

Quiche!
Not a porn worthy picture, but yummy none the less.

They are mini quiches filled with sauteed spinach, toasted pine nuts, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, and swiss cheese.

I just made my new favorite sandwich. I am a new woman now.

On a piece of toasted marble rye I layered a spread I made of avocado and horseradish, on top of that I layered some beet relish from Poland. And on the very top thinly sliced cucumbers with fresh cracked black pepper. It was so good. I will eat this everyday.

adoption book
back when I was little, I had a small orange book about a family who adopts a baby. I remember the illustrations being very soft (slightly blurred, with neutral tones).
I'm pretty sure the book pre-dates me, and I was born in 1983.

Two childrens books: one sci-fi, one western.
Apologise in advance for the lack of detail here, in both cases it's a book that I would have read 25 years ago, during my consumption of almost the entire children's section of my local library.

Sci-fi: There is I think only one scene that has stuck in my head here: the adults and children (of a community?) have been trapped in a hall with only one exit by the villain and his men. One of the adults swaggers out, sure that everyone involved is reasonable men, and is cut down by blaster fire. Later that night, two others attempt to leave, under a flag of truce, and are also cut down. One of the grownups notices that something is different, and realises that rather than guards outside, the villian has built a motion-sensor attached to two circular pistons (possibly space-pistons) that slam across whenever something attempts to pass by. He demonstrates, using a chair, that the holes made are at exactly the same height each time. It's only our hero (and possibly his friend) that can actually make it out of there, and try and get help.

Western: All I have here is the opening and closing scenes, and the suspicion that Quentin Blake was involved somewhere. It starts with our hero and the other braves of his tribe sitting down impatiently to listen to their aged chief talk, in the hope that before he dies, he will tell them where the great treasure he is supposed to know of is. He does this, by naming every piece of land and geological feature for 50 miles in every direction, except the one which holds the treasure. Immediately, the braves all run for their horses. I don't remember much of the closing scene, except that the treasure in in a small cave the entrance to which is a pile of rocks, where unless you stand at exactly the right place, you can't see the cave behind them. Which impressed me no end 25 years ago.

Thank you to anyone who can help identify them!

I created a peach cake monster.
So I was massively bored and for some reason thought it would be a good idea to use up one of the cake mix boxes (butter cake) and a couple of cans of peaches in light syrup.

I mixed up the mix as per the instructions except that I replaced some of the water with vodka and added some cinnamon. Then I poured some batter into a bundt pan and alternated that with layers of peaches, ending with a layer of cake mix.

Then I baked. Which somehow ended with all the peaches sinking to the bottom and creating a weird peach goo (some of which may or may not be uncooked batter?).

I topped this monstrosity with a glaze made from the reduced peach syrup with some cinnamon and a lot of powdered sugar.

I'm afraid to taste it.

Any recommendations for improving this mess for next time? Or thoughts on whether it's edible?

Thanks!

So...And So...And So...
A post mostly about nothing in particular...

So...

LJ will be down for 4 hours (HA!) in the morning here in the US Staring at 8:00 AM PST. That is 10:00 AM Houston time. I, for one, am glad they are doing it while I am at work. My reasons are purely selfish too.

Lately I have been busier than a one armed paperhanger during my weekdays and so do not have much time to post or surf during the daylight hours. If the outage goes the way it is scheduled, by the time I really have time to look (or post) things should be back up. IF things go as scheduled. Let's hope Murphy's Law of IT doesn't rear it's ugly little head.

So this should not be a big deal. For ME. Sorry for the rest of y'all.

And So...

I have been looking at, choosing and trying to decide on captions for my ADIML post. Also trying to decide which photos get the honor of being included.

I'm sure you will be (if any one reads the thing at all) bored to tears. Unless I come up with some silly, or witty insights to go along with them...I shall try...

And So...

I bid you, all my friends, adieu! I'll see you on the other side of the outage tomorrow!

Was that over the top? I can never tell...
